We had an amazing photo shoot in East Hampton a few weeks back and are in love with all of the resulting photos and postcards (which I hope you all received in the mail!). One of my favorite things about summer is the explosion of color. Even those generally timid of color are inspired to indulge! We, of course, offer color this summer for ‘all walks of life’. India. So much to see and do, so little time in which to do it! LA. Setting up Trunk Shows, in Hollywood’s hidden haven!

Whilst the  design team and I continue our buying trip taking us from New Delhi to Jaipur in the intense heat & dust of a true Indian summer, the week at Roberta Freymann head quarters took on a slightly different twist …

Our Trunk Show team jetted off to LA’s Hollywood Hills to set up shop at the home of British former model turned Interior Designer to Hollywood’s elite, Amanda Masters

With what can only be described as a design master piece, the home of our host excelled in modern eclectic style, influenced from her globetrotting modeling days, perfectly fitting for my philosophy of chic global style.

With our two signature collections on display amidst the beautiful grounds of Amanda’s home, guests tried on sunhats, dresses, accessories and of course our signature kurta’s whilst sipping on champagne and grazing on mini gazpacho.

A luncheon in true Roberta style took place, overlooking the hills of the valley. The team did a fantastic job decking out the banquet table in exquisite style with our signature organza Amanda print table linens … an ode to our host!

Come late afternoon with the sun setting, the outdoor lounge area’s found the hosts children curled up in our distinctive hand block printed bedding …. A fairytale ending for Roberta Roller Rabbit.

Roberta Freymann is pleased to announce the opening of our latest retail store, moving us from Newtown Lane to 21 Main Street … cementing our position within the trendy summer beach locale that is East Hampton.

Our newest Boutique takes inspiration from the wonders of Brazil to 1950’s Hollywood, a fresh twist for another summer in the Hamptons.

Encapsulating the natural settings that Rio de Janeiro is best known for, from the amazing boardwalks that lead from Copacabana to Ipanema and Leblon to the tropical flora that can be found in the surrounding rainforests of Tijuca. Our choice of materials, textures and fabrics  mixed together with a hint of 1950s Hollywood glamour can be seen in the finer details such as the Martinique wallpaper found at the world famous Beverly Hills Hotel … a summer shopping haven for all.

Brought to life by Hangar Design Group http://www.hangardesigngroup.com/ everything from the floating wood slat ceiling to our custom designed Lula print featured throughout the store, creates a relaxed but chic appeal … a shopping retreat you may never want to leave!

Jaipur is our final stop mainly due to the amazing crafts and fabrics that can be picked up here. The handicrafts of Jaipur are well-known throughout the world for their distinctive quality and exclusive variety, a perfect match to Roberta Freymann & Roberta Roller Rabbit! Due to this fact, Jaipur is also recognized as the crafts capital of India.. If you are a lover of all things crafted, the markets of Jaipur offer a rich assortment of handicrafts from papier mache (the home of our hand-painted ornaments), pottery, accessories, apparel and a range of hand block prints (the home of our heart prints) that have our design heads spinning!

As we head back to a cold New York this weekend, we take with us some fabulous ideas for the upcoming seasons and all that is left to say is Namaste to our beloved India … until June!

Formerly known as Bombay, Mumbai is the largest city in India and the capital of Maharashtra state. Mumbai’s nature as the most eclectic and cosmopolitan Indian city is symbolized in the presence of Bollywood all around. With an inebriating mix of all that India has to offer, it is it’s vogue centre of fashion and a designers delight!

Only once the initial shock of Mumbai’s chaos subsides, can you start to appreciate the city’s allure: a wealth of Art Deco buildings; relics; temples; warrens of bazaars and a whole lot of inspiration! Much of our production happens here in Mumbai, transforming my design idea’s into a fashion reality.

I find amazing silks, vintage fabrics and jewelry on my trips to India, all of which take shape in my collections . The colourful markets are one of the reasons I come to Mumbai, the vibrancy of these markets is something I try to capture in each piece within my stores.

Adding to Mumbai’s madness, we continue our onward journey north to Jaipur … the pink city, the crafts capital of India and full of inspiration for our I’m Home range at Roberta Roller Rabbit!

First stop on our tour is Delhi…It’s easy to think you’re hallucinating in this amazing city, pulsating with personality and an unimaginable amount of inspiration & vibrant colour…perhaps better described as Psychedelhi. The best way to handle it is to keep your eyes and your mind wide open!

Scratch beyond the gritty surface and you’ll swiftly discover that India’s capital is sprinkled with glittering gems: earthy bazaars, chic boutiques, textiles, and jewelry.

Khan Market is a favourite of the Roberta Freymann design team, this enclave has shops devoted to fashion, specializing in quality block printed textiles, from tablecloths to garments as well as sublime silver and gold jewelry! It’s hardly surprising that we will find many gems for our boutiques for the seasons ahead!

Next stop will be Mumbai (Bombay), a melange of India’s extremities, but a designers delight!
