Since 2005, our 153 East 70th street location has been home to our Roberta Freymann flagship boutique. In the first week of November we re-opened the two-story townhouse as Ro’s Market.

My goal with Ro’s Market is to bring it back to the very beginning; the days of selling pashminas out of boxes from my apartment on the Upper East Side.  When I would return from my trips, friends and clients would pack into the tiny, stuffy room and scour through boxes and trunks. It was crazy! Merchandise would be everywhere but everyone was excited, laughing  and having an amazing time. I am sure some you remember exactly what I am talking about! With  Ro’s Market I hope to recreate that sense of a bustling market place….. a tribute to my beginnings.

Ro’s Market differs from Roberta Freymann in that the merchandise is exclusive, handpicked finds from around the globe, rather than my own designs. Even though I am the stylist rather the designer, the new brand and store reflects my zest for color and life. Even the name and logo paytribute to my quirky humor! 

There is always the chance the non observant might think that the store was a flower shop rather than a treasure trove of unique finds from a far off land.

Derived from cinnabars, vermilion was the Romans’ most valuable and expensive pigment, used to color the faces of their triumphant generals.

Undeniably, I find it is a perfect blend of exoticism and antiquity, a sophisticated alternative to classic true red and an impeccable fit for my colorful outfits!
